Chapter
12 – Capítulo 12
Peter,
who had been called Simon, owned a house beside an olive garden, and
his brother, his wife and his mother-in-law lived there with children
and servants. These did not welcome Jesus, while Peter’s
mother-in-law kept to her bed, for she was down with fever. Jesus,
finding her in this condition, sat down beside her and, taking her
hand, stroked it so she soon slept. When she awoke, she got up and
attended to the guests, for the fever had gone.
Pedro,
que había sido llamado Simón, poseía una casa junto a un jardín
de olivos, y su hermano, su esposa y su suegra vivían allí con los
niños y los sirvientes. Éstos no le dieron la bienvenida a Jesús,
pues la suegra de Pedro estaba en la cama, porque se encontraba
decaída con fiebre. Jesús, viéndola en esas condiciones, se sentó
junto a ella y, cogiendo su mano, acariciándola hasta que se durmió.
Cuando despertó, se levantó y atendió a lo invitados, porque la
fiebre había desaparecido.
The
brother of Peter said to Jesus, “This place already supports
sufficient priests and expounders of religion, and You bring others
with You to swell their numbers. How will you all live?”
El
hermano de Pedro le dijo a Jesús, “Este lugar de siempre ya tiene
suficientes sacerdotes y predicadores de la religión, y Tú traes
contigo a otros para aumentar su número. ¿Cómo viviréis todos?”
Jesus
said, “I will tell you a parable. An inconsiderate man once owned a
cat, which he sometimes neglected to feed. One day, he came home with
a dog found wandering and lost. The cat said to the dog, ‘Now I
shall surely starve, for you are much bigger than I am, and the food
for you will be often forgotten, so you will devour mine.’ The dog
said, ‘This will not be so, for when we are hungry I can bark and
whine, which you cannot do. This will show the master we are hungry,
and we will both be fed.’”
Jesús
dijo, “Te contaré una parábola. Una vez un hombre desconsiderado
tenía un gato, al que a veces se le olvidaba darle de comer. Un día,
llegó a casa con un perro callejero y lo dejó. El gato le dijo al
perro,”Ahora yo moriré de hambre, porque tú eres mayor que yo, y
tu comida será olvidada muchas veces, así que me devorarás”. El
perro dijo, “Eso no será así, porque cuando estemos hambrientos yo
puedo ladrar y gimotear, lo que tú no puedes hacer. Esto avisará al
dueño de que tenemos hambre y ambos tendremos comida”.
Later,
while they were dining, Jesus said, “Men say I am the scourge of
the Perushim, but this is untrue, for many of these are godly men
whom it would be unworthy to lash with the tongue. It is the painted
Perushim, the hypocrites pretending to be what they are not, whom I
criticize.
Más
tarde, mientras estaban cenando, Jesús dijo, “La gente dice que
soy el azote de los Perushims, pero no es cierto, porque muchos de
ellos son buenos hombres a los que sería indigno ofender con
palabras. Es a los aparentes Perushims, los hipócritas que pretenden
ser lo que no son, a los que yo critico.
“There
are those who carry their goodness on their shoulders for all to see;
those who say, ‘Tell me my duty and I will do it, show me my
obligations and I will carry them out’; those who bow to the ground
so their eyes may not look on passing women; those who trip over
their feet with excessive humility; and those who do good out of
fear. I bring their faults into the light of day, so they may benefit
from their own shame.”
“Los
hay que arrastran su bondad y sus desgracias para que todos las vean;
los que dicen, ‘Dame mi tarea y la haré, muéstrame mis
obligaciones y las realizaré; los que se inclinan hasta el suelo,
para que sus ojos no miren a las mujeres cuando pasan; los que
caminan sobre sus pies con excesiva humildad; y los que hacen el bien
por miedo. Yo saco sus faltas a la luz del día, así se benefician
de su propia vergüenza”
The
brother of Peter said, “Sire, we are respectable people and live
among our own kind, for a man who works among goats always carries
some of their smell. Why do You associate with wrongdoers?”
El
hermano de Pedro dijo, “Señor, somo una gente respetable y vivimos
entre los de nuestra clase, porque un hombre que trabaja entre cabras
siempre despide algo de su olor. Por qué te asocias con
malhechores?”
Jesus
said, “I prefer the wrongdoer who is aware of his deficiencies to
the good man who is overly aware of his goodness. Is the starving and
desperate man who steals to feed his hungry children bad, while the
overfed respectable man protected from temptation by wealth ill
earned is good? Which of the two needs compassion?
Jesús
dijo, “Prefiero a un malhechor que es consciente de sus
deficiencias a un buen hombre que sobre todo es consciente de su
bondad. Es malo el hambriento y el hombre desesperado que roba para
sus hijos hambrientos, mientras el satisfecho y respetable hombre
protegido de la tentación por su mal adquirida riqueza es bueno?
Cuál de los dos necesita compasión?
“Going
to the Temple makes no one good unless goodness is already
established in their hearts. No truly good man could serve the Father
devotedly for an hour and then turn his back on Him for the rest of
the day.”
“Al
ir al Templo no se hace un bien a no ser que la bondad esté antes
establecida en sus corazones. Un hombre verdaderamente bueno no puede
servir al Padre devotamente durante una hora y después darle la
espalda para el resto del día”
Jesus
went outside to where there was an open space surrounded by trees,
and here a crowd started to gather around Him. While He was speaking,
a man pushed through in distress and, coming close to Jesus, begged
Him to come and save his young daughter. Jesus said, “I will go to
her immediately after I leave here.”
Jesús marchó fuera hacia donde había un espacio abierto rodeado de árboles,
y allí una multitud empezó a rodearle. Mientras Él estaba hablando
un hombre empujaba con angustia y, llegando junto a Jesús, Le pidió
que fuera y salvara a su joven hija. Jesús dijo, “Iré a ella
inmediatamente después de acabar aquí.”
Now,
a leper stood apart from the crowd, and Jesus went over to him,
saying, “Do you want to be made well?” The man answered, “O
Sire, You could make me a new man if You would only will it to be
so.” Jesus touched him, and the man’s affliction began to depart.
Jesus said to him, “Go to a priest, taking the prescribed offering
of your cleansing, and he will testify to the cure.”
Pues
bien, un leproso permanecía aparte de la multitud, y Jesús fue
junto a él, “ Quieres ser curado?. El hombre contestó, “Oh,
Señor, podrías hacerme un hombre nuevo sólo con que yo lo
quisiera?.” Jesús le tocó, y la enfermedad del hombre empezó a
desaparecer. Jesús le dijo, “Vé a un sacerdote, llevando la
prescrita ofrenda de tu limpieza, y él testificará tu cura.”
Those
about said among themselves, “He heals unlike other Holy Men, for
those He cures seem to be filled with a strange form of vigor.”
Los
de alrededor dijeron entre ellos, “Él cura de forma distinta a
otros Hombres Santos, porque los que Él cura parecen estar llenos de
una especie extraña de fuerza.”
As
Jesus went back into the gathering, a centurion came up to Him and
said, “I have heard of Your powers from many people, and my son is
at home and in great pain. Will You kindly heal him? And for this I
will be forever grateful.”
Cuando
Jesús volvió con los reunidos, un centurión llegó a Él y le
dijo, “He oído de Tus poderes a mucha gente, y mi hijo está en
casa con una grave enfermedad. ¿Querrás por caridad curarle? Y por
esto te estaré agradecido para siempre-”
Jesus
said, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion replied, “My
house is a very humble place and hardly fit for You to enter. Just
command it and I know the boy will be cured, for I trust You. I who
give and take orders know the power of command.”
Jesús
dijo, “Iré y le curaré” Pero el centurión replicó, “Mi casa
es un lugar muy humilde y difícilmente adecuado para que tú entres.
Sólo da una orden y yo sé que el chico se curará, porque confío
en Ti. Yo que doy y recibo órdenes conozco el poder de un mandato”.
Jesus
was surprised to hear these words and, turning to those who followed
Him, said, “Nowhere in the land have I seen faith such as this.
Believe Me, many will come from East and West, thinking to sit among
our forefathers in the Kingdom of the Spirit, but many who are heirs
to this Kingdom, having forfeited their heritage, will be found
outside the gates, and there will be weeping and wailing.”
Jesús
se sorprendió al oír estas palabras y, volviéndose a los que Le
seguían dijo, “ En ningún sitio de la tierra he visto una fe como
esta. Creedme, muchos vendrán del Este y del Oeste, esperando situarse entre nuestros antepasados en el Reino del Espíritu, pero
muchos que son herederos de este Reino, habiendo perdido su herencia,
serán encontrados fuera de las puertas y estarán llorando y
lamentándose”
Then
Jesus said to the centurion, “Go home, My friend. Because of your
trust, I will not disappoint you.” Then Jesus gave the centurion a
piece of metal, saying, “Place this beside the boy.” And from
that time, the boy began to recover.
Entonces
Jesús dijo al centurión, “Vete a tu casa, amigo, porque por tu
confianza, no te dejaré de lado”. Entonces Jesús le dio al
centurión una pieza de metal, diciendo, “Coloca esto junto al
niño”. Y desde ese momento, el niño empezó a mejorar.
In
the crowd which pressed around Jesus was a woman who had suffered
from bleeding for twelve years, whom no one had been able to cure.
Coming up behind Jesus, she prayed silently to herself and touched
Him on the back. At once, the woman began to feel comfortable and
relieved.
Entre
la multitud que rodeaba a Jesús había una mujer que sufría
hemorragias desde hacía doce años, a quien nadie había sido capaz
de curar. Yendo detrás de Jesús, ella rogaba en silencio para sí
misma y Le tocó en la espalda. En ese momento, la mujer empezó a
sentirse confortable y sana.
But
Jesus knew the healing power had been drawn from Him in an unexpected
outsurge. Turning to the disciples in the crowd, who stood guard, He
asked who had touched Him. Peter, who was there, said, “How can we
know? The crowd presses so close we can hardly control them.”
Pero
Jesús notó que el poder sanador había salido de Él en una cantidad inesperada. Volviéndose a los discípulos que estaban vigilando,
entre la multitud, preguntó quien le había tocado. Pedro, que
estaba allí, dijo, “¿Cómo lo vamos a saber? La multitud presiona
tan fuerte que con dificultad podemos controlarles”
The
woman, hearing this, and fearful for what she had done, came forward
and fell on her knees before Jesus, confessing her guilt. He raised
her up gently, saying, “My daughter, it is not the power in Me
alone, but your faith has opened a door whereby it poured out to
effect a cure. Be at peace in your heart, for the complaint will
trouble you no more.”
La
mujer, al oírlo, y asustada por lo que había hecho, se adelantó y
se arrodilló ante Jesús, confesando su falta. Él la levantó
gentilmente, diciendo, “Hija mía, no es sólo el poder que hay en
Mí, sino que tu fe ha abierto una puerta por dónde ha salido el
efecto de la curación”
After
this, Jesus needed a rest, and while doing so a servant came bearing
a message to the man whose daughter had been ill, telling him she had
died. Jesus, overhearing what was said, called the man to Him and
said, “Do not upset yourself; just trust Me and wait awhile, and we
will go together.”
Después
de esto, Jesús necesitaba un descanso, y mientras lo hacía llegó un
sirviente portando un mensaje del hombre cuya hija estaba enferma,
diciendo que había muerto, sorprendiéndose de lo que le decía,
llamó al hombre junto a Él y dijo, “ No te preocupes; Sólo ten
confianza en Mí y espera un poco, e iremos juntos”
Jesus
the bid the crowd remain where it was and went with the father and
his servant, accompanied by three disciples. When they arrived at the
man’s house, mourners had already started the wailing of the
laments, and Jesus rebuked them for making such a noise when the girl
was only sleeping, for He had sent His Spirit before Him. The
mourners said, “What kind of a fool is this?”
Jesús
mandó a la multitud permanecer dónde estaba y fue con el padre y su
sirviente, acompañado por tres discípulos. Cuando llegaron a la
casa del hombre, las plañideras ya habían empezado el lloro de los
lamentos, y Jesús les regañó por armar tal escándalo cuando la
muchacha sólo estaba dormida, Porque él había enviado Su espíritu
ante Él. Las plañideras dijeron, “ Qué tipo de loco es éste?”
Ordering
them outside, Jesus, accompanied by the parents and two disciples,
entered the room where the child was lying. Taking her hands, Jesus
said, “Wake up, My little one.” And after a while she gave a
great breath. Later, opening her eyes, she smiled and soon got up.
The parents were overcome, but when they recovered, Jesus told them
to keep their own counsel and attend to the child.
Ordenándolas
salir, Jesús, acompañado por los padres y dos discípulos, entró
en la habitación en la que yacía la muchacha. Tomando su mano,
Jesús dijo, “Despierta, pequeña” Y después de un momento ella
dio un gran suspiro. Más tarde, abriendo los ojos, sonrió y pronto
se levantó. Los padres estaban admirados, pero cuando se
recobraron,Jesús les dijo que siguieran su propio criterio y
atendieran a la niña.
When
they had left, James, one of the disciples, asked, “Why are some
brought back to life and others not?” Jesus answered, “Did I not
say this one only slept? There is a time appointed for dying, and the
spirits of men keep their appointments. I work with the law of life,
not against it.”
Cuando
se fueron, James, uno de los discípulos, preguntó, “Por qué
algunos vuelven a la vida y otros no?”, Jesús contestó, “No os
he dicho que esta estaba sólo dormida? Hay un tiempo destinado a
agonizar, y el espíritu de los hombres tiene sus citas. Yo trabajo
con la ley de la vida, no contra ella.”
When
they arrived back at the place where the crowd was gathered, there
was a man lying in their midst, with a greatly swollen leg which had
crippled him for many years. He said to Jesus, “Sire, I have been a
sinful man and have been punished.”
Cuando
llegaron al lugar en el que la multitud estaba reunida, había un
hombre que yacía en medio, con una pierna hinchada enormemente que
le tenía imposibilitado hacía muchos años. Él le dijo a Jesús,
“Señor, yo he sido un hombre pecador y he sido castigado”.
Jesus
said, “Be of good heart, for your suffering has compensated for
your misdeeds.”
Jesús
dijo, “Alégrate, porque por su sufrimientos has compensado tus
fechorías”
Some
nearby who were hostile towards Jesus, hearing this, said, “This is
blasphemous talk.” Overhearing what was said, Jesus turned to them
and replied, “Talk such as this is cheap and serves no end. It
takes more than a wagging tongue to effect cures.”
Alguien
cercano que sentía hostilidad hacia Jesús, oyendo esto, dijo, “Eso
es una blasfemia”. Al oír lo que había dicho, Jesús se volvió a
él y contestó. “ Hablar así es chabacano y no sirve para nada.
Se necesita algo más que una lengua graciosa para realizar
curaciones”.
Then
Jesus said to the man on the ground, “Arise and go your way.”
Thereupon he got up and walked, the people being amazed and giving
thanks that such powers could be manifested among them.
Entonces
Jesús dijo al hombre que estaba en el suelo, “Levanta y vé por tu
camino” Al momento él se levantó y caminó, las gente estaba
maravillada y daban gracias de que tal poder se hubiera manifestado
entre ellos.
Jesus
then left and returned to the house of Peter and, when He arrived,
found several Perushim waiting outside. They said, “We hear You
have much wisdom. What is the basis of Your teaching? What sign can
You give of Your authority, or what proof, so we can believe? Moses
provided heavenly bread when our people starved in the wilderness,
and by his deeds we know him for a true prophet.”
Después
Jesús se fue y volvió a casa de Pedro y, cuando Él llegó,
encontró varios Perushims esperando fuera. Ellos dijeron, “Hemos
oído que tienes mucha sabiduría. Cuál es la base de tus
enseñanzas? ¿Qué señal puedes dar de Tu autoridad, o qué
pruebas, para que podamos creer? Moisés proveyó de pan celestial
cuando nuestro pueblo pasaba hambre en el desierto, y por sus
acciones le consideramos un verdadero profeta”.
A
disciple said, “He has just healed four people.” But the Perushim
replied, “There are others who heal. This power is not unique in
Him.”
Un
discípulo dijo, “Él acaba de curar a cuatro personas”, pero el
Perushim contestó, “Hay otros que curan. Ese poder no está sólo
en Él”
Then
Jesus said, “Must you have proof and be given signs to believe?
Surely this would take all merit from belief. As for Moses, I assure
you he did not provide bread from Heaven when he fed those who
starved in the wilderness. Through Me, God will send down the bread
of Heaven, which nourishes the world.
Entonces
Jesús dijo, “Necesitas tú tener pruebas y hay que dar razones para
creer? Seguramente esto quitaría todo el mérito de la fe. En cuanto
a Moisés, yo te aseguro que no proveía de pan de los Cielos cuando
alimentaba a los que estaban hambrientos en el desierto. A través de
Mí, Dios mandará el pan de los Cielos que alimentará al mundo.
Therefore,
when working to support yourselves, do not overlook the need for the
bread of Heaven which nourishes the spirit, for man cannot live by
mortal bread alone. Strive less for perishable food and more for the
food of eternal life.”
Por
lo tanto, cuando se trabaja para el propio sustento. no se cae en la
necesidad por el pan de los Cielos que alimenta al espíritu, porque
el hombre no puede vivir sólo de mortal pan. Luchar menos por el
alimento perecedero y más por el alimento de la vida eterna”.
The
crowd answered, “O Sire, never fail to provide us with this bread.”
La
multitud contestó,”Oh, Señor, nunca dejes de proveernos con ese
pan”
Jesus
said, “I bring the bread of life; whoever partakes of it will never
hunger. I bring the water of eternity, and whoever drinks of it will
never thirst. All I am intended to receive from above I will share
with everyone who comes to Me.
Jesús
dijo, “Yo traigo el pan de vida; cualquiera que participa de él
nunca tendrá hambre, Yo traigo el agua de la eternidad, y cualquiera
que bebe de ella nunca tendrá sed. Todo lo que estoy dispuesto a
recibir de arriba lo compartiré con cada uno que venga a Mí
“The
power I have comes from Heaven and is used not for My own ends, but
to serve the purpose of He who gave it. His will is that I should
waste no particle of what I have been given, but must account for it
when My work is ended. For it is the will of He who invested Me with
authority and power that whoever has faith in Me and believes in My
cause, putting My teachings into practice, will enjoy immortality in
glory.”
“El
poder que tengo viene de los cielos y no es usado para Mis propios
fines, sino para servir a los propósitos de El Que lo dio. Su
voluntad es que no sobre ni una partícula de lo que me ha sido dado,
sino que debo rendir cuentas de ello, cuando Mi trabajo esté
acabado. Porque esta es la voluntad de Aquel que me invistió de
autoridad y poder que cualquiera que tenga fe en Mí y crea en Mi
causa, poniendo mis enseñanzas en práctica, gozará de la
inmortalidad en la gloria”.
One
of the Perushim said to Jesus, “Why do so many flock to hear You
speak instead of going to the temples and places of assembly? Why do
they have to listen to someone speaking on the streets and hillsides
when they could listen to those fully armed with knowledge of the
law?”
Uno
de los Perushim dijo a Jesús, “Por qué se congregan tantos para
oírte hablar en vez de ir al templo y a los lugares de reunión? Por
qué tienen que oír a cualquiera hablando en la calle y en los
atrios cuando tendrían que escuchar a los que están llenos del
conocimiento de la ley?”
Jesus
answered, “I too am surprised so many seek to learn righteousness
from Me. Maybe they come because I am among those disinherited. But
before telling them what to do, put yourselves in their place. Can it
be they find My teachings more sustaining and closer to their
hearts?”
Jesús
contestó, “Yo también estoy sorprendido de que tantos vengan a
aprender honradez de Mí. Quizá vengan porque estoy entre los
desheredados. Pero antes de decirles lo que hacer, ponte tú mismo en
su lugar. Puede ser que encuentren mis enseñanzas más sustentadas y
cercanas a sus corazones?”.
Many
of the Jews were angry at the teachings of Jesus, for He said, “I
have the true bread of Life and of Heaven.”
Muchos
Judíos estaban enfadados con las enseñanzas de Jesús, porque él
decía, “Yo tengo el verdadero pan de la vida y del Cielo"
They
said, “Is this not the Jesus we know, son of Joseph and Mary who
are just ordinary people?”
Ellos
decían, “ No es este el Jesús que conocemos, hijo de José y
María que son sólo gente normal?”
Jesus
once said to them, “Do not say things behind My back when you can
say them to My face. I will draw no one away from your own teachings
unless something greater inclines them towards Me. But if it does,
they are on the way to immortality. The prophets promised your
forefathers that their descendents would receive instructions from
God. So can you not believe these things? Therefore, anyone God
inclines towards Me hears Me speak with His voice.”
En
una ocasión Jesús les dijo, “No digáis cosas a Mis espaldas,
cuando podéis decirlas cara a cara. Yo no quito a nadie de sus
propias enseñanzas a no ser que algo más grande los incline hacia
Mi. Pero si lo hacen, están en el camino de la inmortalidad. Los
profetas prometieron a vuestros antepasados que sus descendientes
recibirían instrucciones de Dios. Así que Por qué no podéis creer
estas cosas? Por lo tanto, cualquiera que Dios incline hacia Mí Me
escucha hablar con Su voz”.
The
people who joined the crowds about Jesus filled Him with compassion,
for they were so anxious to find the Deliverer. They seemed
pathetically helpless and lost, like sheep without a shepherd.
La
gente que formaba la multitud alrededor de Jesús Le causaban
compasión, por lo ansiosos que estaban de encontrar al Libertador.
Parecían patéticamente abandonados y dejados, como ovejas sin
pastor.
Jesus
said to His disciples, “The seed planted was good, and there is a
rich harvest ready for the cutting. But alas, the harvesters are few;
therefore the overseer must be requested to send more men.”
Jesús
decía a sus discípulos, “La semilla plantada era buena y hay una
rica cosecha dispuestas para la siega. Pero ¡ay!, los cosechadores
son pocos; Por lo tanto el capataz tiene que buscar para encontrar
más hombres”-
The
following day, Jesus was seated among the trees near the house of
Peter, and with Him were many disciples. And one said to Him, “Sire,
since the days of our fathers, many slaves have come into the land -
great numbers having no slaves, being forced into brigandage, for
otherwise they would starve. Are these men evildoers?”
Al
día siguiente, Jesús estaba sentado entre los árboles junto a la
casa de Pedro, y con Él estaban algunos discípulos. Y uno Le dijo,
“Señor, desde los días de nuestros padres, algunos esclavos han
venido a esta tierra -un gran número no tiene esclavos, viéndose
forzados al bandidaje, porque de otra forma morirían de hambre. Son
estos hombres malhechores?”
Jesus
replied, “What they do is not good and therefore must be evil. But
though their wrongdoing may be great in the eyes of men, it is small
in the eyes of God compared with the evil done by those who stand
behind the deed. Many, blameless in the eyes of men, will not escape
the judgment of eternity.
Jesús
contestó, “Lo que hacen no es bueno y por lo tanto debe ser malo.
Pero aunque su maldad puede ser grande a los ojos de los hombres, es
pequeña a los ojos de Dios comparada con el mal hecho por los que
permanecen tras los hechos. Algunos, no culpables a los ojos de los
hombres, no escaparán al juicio de la eternidad
“The
disinherited say, ‘All things will change when God wills it,’ but
I tell you the Father will not do the work of His sons. The Deliverer
comes to take men to their places of labor and will ease their
burdens there, but He cannot undertake the whole of the task. He will
initiate the Rule of God, but cannot force it upon men. He will teach
them to judge the underprivileged justly and to deal harshly with the
arrogant. The rich will be less rich and the poor less poor. He will
point the feet of men towards the path of perfection, but cannot
carry them along it. Earthly kings can drive men to fulfill their
tasks, but no one can be driven along the path to glory. Only those
who guide and lead can take men this way.
“El
desheredado dice, ‘Todo cambiará cuando Dios quiera’, pero yo os
digo que el Padre no hará el trabajo de Sus Hijos. El Libertador
viene a colocar a los hombres en sus lugares de trabajo y aliviará
sus ataduras allí, pero Él no puede asumir la totalidad de la
faena. Él iniciará el Mandato de Dios, pero no lo puede imponer a
los hombres. Él enseñará a juzgar a los desvalidos justamente y a mostrar aspereza con el arrogante. El rico será menos rico y el
pobre menos pobre. Él dirigirá los pasos de los hombres hacia el
camino de la perfección, pero no les transportará a lo largo de él.
Los reyes de la tierra pueden conducir a los hombres a realizar sus
tareas, pero nadie puede ser llevado a lo largo del camino a la
gloria. Sólo los que guían y lideran pueden indicar a los hombres
ese camino.
“I
bring the Light, and the Light is a good tree bearing beneficial
fruit. But fruit on the tree of darkness is consistent with
conditions about its roots. For all trees are rooted in darkness, but
the good tree transmutes the things of darkness into things of
light.”
“Yo
traigo la Luz, y la Luz es un buen árbol cargado de frutos
beneficiosos. Pero el fruto en el árbol de la oscuridad es
consecuente con las condiciones de sus raíces. Porque todos los
árboles han arraigado en la oscuridad, pero el buen árbol cambia
las cosas oscuras en cosas de luz”
A
disciple said to Jesus, “Sire, You say harsh things about the
rulers and those in high places but do not seek to arm us against
them. Surely the day of arming comes soon.”
Un
discípulo le dijo a Jesús, “Señor, Tú dices cosas duras sobre
los gobernantes y los que ocupan puestos importantes pero no buscas
armarnos contra ellos. Seguramente el día de armarse venga pronto”
Jesus
answered, “A physician is called to treat the sickness, and a
healthy man does not require his attentions. The good in men I
strengthen but leave untouched; it is the evil I seek out to destroy.
Were it not for the strength of those who govern, there would be no
peace in the land. Man would strive with man, and there would be
murder and pillage everywhere. It would be like the sea, where big
fish feed on the small, and nothing is there to prevent it.
Therefore, if murder and robbery are kept from your door, pay due
homage to those who stand guard.
Jesús
contestó, “Un médico es llamado para tratar la enfermedad, y un
hombre sano no requiere sus atenciones. El bien en los hombres yo
fortalezco pero lo dejo intocado; Es al mal al que intento destruir.
Si no fuera por la fuerza de los que gobiernan, no habría paz en la
tierra. El hombre lucharía con el hombre y habría asesinatos y
pillajes por todas partes. Pasaría lo que en el mar, donde el pez
grande se come al pequeño, y no hay nada para evitarlo. Por lo
tanto, si queréis mantener al asesino y al ladrón fuera de vuestras
puertas, debéis pagar a los que permanecen de guardia.
“If
an evil king be guarded by a thousand good men, should these be slain
to kill the king? Is it not best to first take the good men away from
service with the king, bringing them into your own ranks? Those who
serve evil, though powerful and wily, are cowards and hide behind the
arms of better men. Therefore, by killing the brave men are you not
adding evil to evil? No, first bring the good and brave men to your
side, and then let events happen as they will.”
Si
un mal rey es guardado por mil hombres buenos, deben estos ser
muertos para matar al rey? No es mejor apartar a los hombres buenos
del servicio del rey, dándoles su propio rango? Los que sirven al
mal, además de poderosos y astutos, son cobardes y se esconden tras

A
young disciple who became an envoy said, “You speak about bread
unlike other bread, but the meaning is not clear to me. Tell me again
about it.”
Un
joven discípulo que le había sido enviado dijo, “Tú hablas de un
pan distinto de otro pan, pero el significado no está claro para mí,
Explícamelo otra vez”.
Jesus
said, “I will tell you with certainty, he who follows My cause
wholeheartedly will gain eternal life, for I have the bread of
immortality. The bread I give forms part of My being, and I share it
for the good of the world. Many have the grains, but these are yet to
be ground and baked. Unless, therefore, you can partake of My
substance and become like Me, you cannot gain immortality in glory.
Jesús
dijo, “Te diré con toda certeza, que el que sigue Mi causa con
todo su corazón ganará la vida eterna, porque yo tengo el pan de la
inmortalidad. El pan que doy forma parte de Mi ser, y lo comparto por
el bien del mundo. Algunos tienen los granos, pero estos tienen que
ser todavía plantados y cocidos, A no ser, por supuesto, que puedas
participar de Mi sustancia y seas como Yo, tú no puedes ganar la
inmortalidad en la gloria.
“Yet
what I can do, you can do also; what I have become, you can become. I
do not ask men to follow a path I would not travel Myself. Neither is
there anything in Me not inherent in you. As I am, I am the True Food
of men, and the power of life flowing in Me is their True Drink. I
come with special gifts and authority from above, clothed with the
Living Spirit, and I express life as I do because of the powers
within Me. So it will be with those who partake of My bread.”
Sin
embargo lo que Yo puedo hacer, tú también lo puedes hacer; lo que
Yo sea, tú puedes serlo. Yo no obligo a los hombres a seguir un
camino que no haya atravesado Yo Mismo. Ni hay nada inherente en Mí
que no esté inherente en ti. Según Yo soy, Yo soy el verdadero
alimento de los hombres, y el poder de vida fluyendo en Mí es su
Verdadera Bebida. Yo vengo con regalos especiales y autoridad de
arriba, cubierto con el Espíritu Viviente y Yo expreso la vida como
lo hago por los poderes que hay en Mí. Así será para los que
participen de Mi pan”.
Many
of those with Jesus could not hold these things in their hearts, for
they were not easily understood. But one recorded them. Some, hearing
these teachings, said, “These words are not easy to understand and
difficult to accept.”
Muchos
de los que estaban con Jesús no guardaban estas cosas en su corazón,
porque no eran fáciles de comprender. Pero alguien las recordaba.
Alguno, oyendo estas cosas, decían, “ Estas cosas no son fáciles
de comprender y difíciles de aceptar”
Jesus
said, “So you find difficulty in accepting what I say. Suppose you
could see Me communicating with My place of origin - would you
believe then? But the eyes of the flesh cannot see things intended
only for the eyes of the spirit.
Jesús
decía, “ Así que encontráis dificultad en aceptar lo que os
dijo. Suponed que Me viérais comunicando con Mi lugar de origen -lo
creeríais entonces?. Pero los ojos de la carne no pueden ver cosas
destinadas sólo a los ojos del espíritu.
“Only
the spirit contains the power of life, and the flesh of itself can
see or do nothing. The words I have spoken concern only the
life-holding spirit, and I have not referred to worldly matters. But
still you do not understand. I know you are perplexed and confused by
My teachings. That is why I said something greater must speak
internally to incline you toward Me.”
Sólo
el espíritu contiene el poder de la vida, y la carne por sí misma
no puede ver ni hacer nada. Las palabras que he dicho se refieren
sólo al espíritu portador de vida, y no Me he referido a cuestiones
mundanas. Pero aún así no comprendéis. Yo sé que estáis
perplejos y confusos por Mis enseñanzas. Esto es porque yo digo
cosas tan elevadas que deben hablarse internamente para inclinaros
hacia Mí.
From
this day, many disciples and followers no longer heeded Him.
Desde
aquel día, muchos discípulos y seguidores ya no le escucharon.
It
is written in the Holy Books of the Jews, “In the days of
unrighteousness, I will send forth a firebrand to consume the world
with fire.” Also, “Then each man shall know the fullness of his
own nature, and his reward shall be according to his measure.”
Está
